The Tour and the Album
The tour is named after AC/DC’s 2020 album Power Up, which debuted at No. 1 in Australia and in 20 other countries. It also topped the Billboard 200 in the United States, marking the band’s third chart-topping release there. Power Up received several Grammy nominations, including “Best Rock Album” and “Best Rock Performance” for the song Shot In The Dark.
The 2024 European run sold 1.7 million tickets in the first few days. Total sales passed 2 million across 24 dates. The group recently wrapped up 10 sold-out shows in North America and plans to perform 15 more shows in Europe before heading to Australia.
Who’s Playing in the Band
The current AC/DC touring lineup includes:
- Brian Johnson (vocals)
- Angus Young (lead guitar)
- Stevie Young (rhythm guitar)
- Matt Laug (drums)
- Chris Chaney (bass)
Stevie Young took over for his uncle Malcolm Young in 2014. Laug joined the group in 2023 after longtime drummer Phil Rudd stepped away. Bassist Chris Chaney, previously with Jane’s Addiction, joined in 2024, replacing Cliff Williams, who retired after the Rock Or Bust tour.
A Legacy Still Going
AC/DC played their first show back in 1973. Since then, they’ve sold over 200 million albums globally. Their 1980 album Back In Black alone has sold 50 million copies, making it the highest-selling album by a band in history and the third best-selling overall.
They were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 and continue to tour stadiums worldwide, drawing massive crowds and billions of streams.
Back on Stage
This tour marks a full-circle moment for Brian Johnson, who was forced to leave the band’s 2016 shows due to a hearing issue. Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses filled in at the time. Johnson returned to the studio for Power Up and is now back on the road with the band.
The album was recorded in Vancouver at Warehouse Studios in 2018 with producer Brendan O’Brien, who also worked on Black Ice and Rock Or Bust.

About AC/DC
AC/DC is an Australian rock band formed in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. Known for their loud, guitar-driven sound and energetic performances, they are often associated with the development of hard rock and heavy metal, although the band describes their music simply as “rock and roll.”
Their international breakthrough came with the 1979 album Highway to Hell. Following the death of original vocalist Bon Scott in 1980, Brian Johnson joined the band, and they released Back in Black—an album that has since become one of the best-selling records of all time, with global sales surpassing 50 million copies.
Over the decades, AC/DC has released numerous albums, sold over 200 million records worldwide, and performed in stadiums across the globe. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
