She explained that the band has already started recording, although the process has been broken up by touring and other projects (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH).
“We had just gone into the studio for the first little bit right before recording ‘Afterlife’. So it was in between the end of our main tour last year. We went in with [producer] Nick Raskulinecz, did a few songs, then went back on the road,” Lee said. “Then ‘Afterlife’ was happening. So we came back, did that really fast, and went back on the road again.”
Amy said that while the band has been busy, the creative energy is strong.
“It’s been just a lot, but really invigorating and really fun. I’m just having a ‘YOLO’ moment. I have no time to waste. Let’s do this.”
She also talked about how the band’s approach to releasing music has changed over the years. After dealing with delays during the pandemic, Amy said the band decided to stop waiting to release full albums and instead started sharing new songs as they finished them.
“We started thinking differently. You don’t have to wait until the full album is done. During the pandemic, we had four songs recorded and just started putting them out,” she said. “That felt good. It kept things moving. I want this year to feel like that again.”
While fans can expect new music throughout the year, the full album will likely come early next year.
Upcoming Shows and Projects
Amy also shared what Evanescence has planned for the rest of 2025. The band will play a one-off show with My Chemical Romance in September, followed by a stadium tour in Australia with Metallica in October.
Other appearances include radio shows and a slot at Louder Than Life festival. The band will also play shows with Poppy, whom Amy called a friend.
Evanescence has also been active in the studio beyond their own album. Their recent single “Afterlife” was featured in the Netflix animated series Devil May Cry. Another new track, “Fight Like A Girl”, was created for Ballerina, a film set in the John Wick universe.
Both songs have gained traction quickly. “Afterlife” has racked up more than 20 million streams and over 10 million views on YouTube.
