As I Lay Dying: Tim Lambesis Accuses Ex-Wife of Physical and Mental Abuse
Frontman responds to leaked footage and reveals evidence of alleged abuse.
- Tim Lambesis has filed for a restraining order against his ex-wife, alleging years of abuse and providing videos, photos, and witness testimonies as evidence.
- Leaked footage shows Tim in heated confrontations, including self-harm and a violent table-flipping incident.
- As I Lay Dying’s ongoing turmoil deepens as former members cite moral conflicts and personal well-being for their departures.
The ongoing implosion of As I Lay Dying feels less like a band breakup and more like a reality show nobody asked for. The last few months have been a cascade of exits, with band members dropping out faster than you can say “personal integrity.” Ryan Neff slipped away quietly, leaving fans guessing. Then the tour manager vanished, amid whispers of a scrapped European tour. From there, the dominoes fell: Ken Susi departed, citing his “tested morals,” followed by Nick Pierce, who needed a breather “for personal health.” Phil Sgrosso rounded out the exodus, making it clear he wanted nothing to do with the chaos.
Amid all this, Tim Lambesis—the band’s frontman and, let’s face it, chaos magnet—announced his intention to soldier on with an entirely new lineup. His reasoning? The previous environment was “unhealthy.” No kidding.

The latest chapter in this soap-opera-gone-metal saga involves disturbing allegations against Tim himself. Anonymous footage leaked online shows heated arguments with his now ex-wife, Dany Lambesis (now Dany Norris). In one clip, Tim, visibly agitated, flips a table during a confrontation. In another, he repeatedly strikes himself in apparent distress. The internet quickly turned into an amateur court, debating whether this was proof of domestic violence—or something else entirely.
Dany, now separated from Tim, issued a statement denying any abuse. Not one to stay quiet, Tim fired back with claims of his own, revealing he’s filed for divorce and a restraining order, while an investigation into domestic violence unfolds. His statement doesn’t mince words:
“This woman assaulted me and verbally/mentally abused me over 3 years. Yesterday, I took the overdue step of delivering divorce papers. Now, she’s retaliating with attempts to focus on my anxiety-filled reactions.”
Tim went on to list what he says is evidence of Dany’s abusive behavior, including:
- Videos showing her allegedly chasing him with a knife or scissors
- Footage of her threatening him into deleting evidence of her assaults
- Photos of a black eye, supported by witness accounts
- Testimonies of threats if he even attempted to leave
The leaked footage (see below), he argues, shows his own “panic-filled reactions”—not evidence of wrongdoing. According to Tim, this public smear campaign is a retaliation for him finally leaving the relationship.

Dany, unsurprisingly, sees things differently. And the bandmates who’ve fled the sinking ship? Their vague but pointed exit statements about “morals” and “integrity” now make more sense. Even Austrian Death Machine, Tim’s side project, isn’t safe from the fallout. Members there have also quit, citing concerns over Tim’s character.
This isn’t Tim’s first public disaster. In 2013, he was convicted in a murder-for-hire plot targeting his then-wife. After serving two years of a six-year sentence, he re-entered the music world, remarried—twice—and somehow thought he could leave his past behind.
This latest mess? It’s a grim reminder that rehabilitation is more than just a PR buzzword.
