Brad Delson Walks Away from Linkin Park’s Reunion—Here’s Why
The guitarist breaks his silence, revealing his decision to skip the tour.
- Brad Delson announces he’s skipping Linkin Park’s reunion tour, opting to work behind the scenes instead.
- Rob Bourdon, the band’s original drummer, has completely left the group and will be replaced by Colin Brittain on tour.
- Fans are left with a patched-up lineup, raising doubts about whether this is the reunion they truly wanted.
Here we go again. Linkin Park just can’t stop throwing curveballs. First, it’s a new singer. Then, a new album. And, of course, the big reunion tour. But now? Brad Delson—the guy who’s been shredding for this band since day one—just said, “Nah, I’m good.” That’s right, their guitar kingpin is out for the tour. No explanations that make sense, just a vague “I’m staying behind the scenes.” Sure, Brad. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Not that this was a shocker. The writing’s been on the wall since their big livestream event. Brad wasn’t there. Neither was Rob Bourdon, their original drummer, who decided to take things a step further and completely bail on the band. Ouch. As if that twist wasn’t enough, they’ve lined up Colin Brittain to take Rob’s spot on tour. Feels a bit like slapping duct tape on a sinking ship, doesn’t it?

Let’s be real for a second. This isn’t the Linkin Park anyone asked for. It’s more like a tribute act with some OG members hanging around to keep the lights on. Sure, the name is still there. But the soul? Questionable. And now, we’re supposed to roll with it because, well, what choice do we have?
Brad’s statement isn’t exactly winning hearts either. He went full PR mode, dropping lines that sound like they were focus-grouped to death.
“Beyond excited to share this new chapter with the world. Bringing our vision to life has been a journey full of twists and turns. We’ve relied on belief, listening, and the support and love of everyone around us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Really, Brad? That’s cute. But let’s cut the fluff and get to the point: Why are you skipping out on the fans who’ve stuck with you all this time?
“I’ve realized I thrive behind the scenes—in the studio, collaborating on music, and shaping our live shows. While I won’t be performing, I’m thrilled to introduce Alex, my ‘handsome deputy.’ He’s a world-class musician and a kind friend.”
Translation? “I’m passing the torch, but hey, don’t forget to cheer for the new guy.” Right. Because that’s what fans want—more stand-ins.
Look, it’s nice to see the band making moves again. But let’s not kid ourselves. This patchwork lineup is not the band we fell in love with. It’s hard to feel the same excitement when two key members are gone, and we’re expected to act like it’s all fine. Spoiler alert: It’s not.
We’ll still show up. We’ll still sing along. But don’t expect us to pretend this is the reunion dream we were sold. It’s starting to feel more like a farewell masquerade.
BRAD DELSON’S FULL STATEMENT
Beyond excited to share this new chapter with the world.
Bringing our vision to life is the culmination of many twists and turns, as we continue our unique journey together as a band. We couldn’t do it without a belief in what is possible, even when things seem impossible; without the ability to listen, particularly when emotions run deep; and without the support and love of everyone around us. Thank you thank you thank you.
In awe of Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain for their talent, passion, and partnership. Deep gratitude to all my bandmates for their humility, hard work, and friendship.
I’ve always felt deeply connected to and proud of our live performances. Over the years I’ve realized I thrive most when I’m actively working with my bandmates behind the scenes––in the studio, collaborating on our new music, and helping build our live show.
I am so proud of everything we continue to create together. While I will not be performing on tour in this new chapter, I am super excited to introduce Alex—my handsome deputy on the road. Alex is a world-class musician, a kind and thoughtful friend, and we are truly fortunate he’ll be contributing his unique talent to our LP universe.
Fresh eyes, honest appreciation, and devoted teamwork have brought us to this special moment. The privilege of sharing our creativity with you. Thank you for joining us on the journey.”
