Summary
  • BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE is working on new music, Paget says it’s going to be super heavy with drop G tuning and fresh ideas.
  • The band cut short its tour with Trivium to focus on writing and recording their upcoming eighth studio album.
  • Recording is set to begin in August 2025, with a full release expected in summer 2026 followed by global touring plans.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE is working on new music, and according to guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget, fans should expect something heavier than ever before.

The Welsh metal band recently cut its joint tour with Trivium short, choosing to focus instead on writing and recording their next studio album. Paget explained the decision during an interview at the Download Festival in the U.K (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

“We just don’t have time,” he said. “We started writing last year, and with all the touring we’ve been doing, there’s no room left if we want to get this album out next year.”

The band now plans to enter the studio later this summer. If all goes well, new music could arrive in early 2026.

Experimenting With New Sounds

Paget shared a few details about the sound of the new album. He says it will feature lower tunings and a heavier tone, something different for the band.

“It’s gonna be super heavy,” Paget said. “We’re messing around with some crazy tuning, including drop G. It’s stuff we haven’t done before.”

Despite the shift in tone, fans can still expect the band’s signature style, big choruses, strong melodies, and aggressive guitar work.

A Fresh Direction, Familiar Energy

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE has released seven studio albums since forming in the early 2000s. Their last record, a self-titled LP, came out in 2021 and was followed by a deluxe edition in 2022.

Now, the band says they want to take things further and break some new ground.

“We never want to make the same album twice,” Paget said. “Music evolves, and we want to stay creative and challenge ourselves.”

Closing The Chapter On The Poison

Frontman Matt Tuck also commented on the band’s current plans. The group has been celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Poison, their debut album, throughout 2025.

“Once it’s done, it’s done forever,” Tuck said. “We’re not gonna do a 25 or 30-year anniversary tour. This is it.”

Tuck added that the band has felt energized by the fan response and wants to keep the momentum going.

Recording Starts In August

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE plans to begin recording the new album in August. Studio time is being finalized, and the band hopes to wrap things up by the end of the year.

“We want to make this one a banger,” Paget said. “We’re really putting thought into it and trying to make it as big as we can.”

Fans can expect new music sometime in 2026, with a full album likely to follow by summer. The band also hinted at major touring plans for 2026 and 2027.
