DISTURBED to Release New Single "I Will Not Break" on February 21, 2025; Everything We Know So Far

The band teases a return to their classic heavy sound, working with producer Drew Fulk to bring a fresh but aggressive edge to their latest track.

Fans know his signature ‘oo-wah-ah-ah-ah’ growl, but did you know he used to be a licensed healthcare administrator before going full metal? • DISTURBED is set to release their new single, “I Will Not Break”, this Friday, February 21, 2025—with teasers hinting at a return to their heavier, old-school sound from albums like “Ten Thousand Fists”, “Indestructible”, and “Asylum”.
  • The track was produced by Drew Fulk (MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, PAPA ROACH, LIL PEEP), who previously worked on Divisive—bringing a mix of modern production and DISTURBED’s classic intensity to the song.
  • The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour kicks off February 25, 2025, featuring two full sets: the entire “The Sickness” album plus a greatest hits performance—special guests include THREE DAYS GRACE (with OG Adam Gontier), SEVENDUST, DAUGHTRY, and NOTHING MORE.
The Gist

Aight listen up. This Friday—February 21, 2025—DISTURBED is unleashing a brand-new single, “I Will Not Break,” and from the unhinged energy flying around the internet, you’d think it was the Second Coming… of Ten Thousand Fists or Indestructible or Asylum or whatever era of DISTURBED your uncle with a Tapout shirt refuses to shut up about. Bruh…

So what’s the vibe? Early teasers suggest it’s got that old-school DISTURBED energy—big riffs, David Draiman growling like he’s fighting a rabid werewolf in an Arby’s parking lot—but wrapped up in some modern Drew Fulk production magic. You know, the same guy who worked on Divisive (2022) and has a resume that somehow includes MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, LIL PEEP, HIGHLY SUSPECT, and a few other bands that sound like Hot Topic employees in 2008. Bussin’? Mid? Time will tell.

THE TEASER—OR, HOW TO BREAK THE INTERNET IN 10 SECONDS

The band—clearly wildin’—posted a teaser clip on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and probably some cursed corner of Facebook where people still use Minion memes unironically. It’s like five seconds of riffage that immediately sent people spiraling into the “Is DISTURBED BACK???” discourse. Bro… chill.

Anyways, people are hyped. “Finally, some real metal,” says one dude who definitely owns at least one Affliction shirt. Some fans are throwing around words like “return to form,” while others are busy gatekeeping which album counts as DISTURBED’s “last good one.” (Asylum? Indestructible? The Sickness? WHO CAN SAY.)

DREW FULK: THE PRODUCER WHO WOKE UP AND CHOSE CHAOS

So why does this matter? Enter Drew Fulk—the mad scientist behind the board. Divisive was already his playground, but now he’s back in the lab, cooking up something that hopefully DOESN’T sound like it was put together by an AI trained exclusively on WWE entrance themes.

Dan Donegan (DISTURBED’s guitarist, a.k.a. the Riff Dealer) actually spoke on this whole situation in an interview:

“It’s always challenging because… The early part of our career, we worked with Johnny K, who did the first three albums with us… Then we went to Kevin Churko in Las Vegas… So, at this point, we just felt like we needed new life, we needed another person in there. So to let somebody in from the outside, to kind of become that fifth member of the band, is always challenging. I’m a bit of a control freak when it comes to our music… We can trust this person to throw ideas at us. It’s gonna challenge us and push us too.”

Translation: They needed someone to tell them when they were cooking and when they were just microwaving leftovers. Fulk apparently did that.

Donegan continued:

“We wanted to get back to some of the core elements of what DISTURBED is—those signature elements of… that animalistic side to David’s vocals… Bringing the heavy riffs with the syncopation in the rhythm section and then with the modern-day production.”

That’s fancy talk for “We’re gonna make something that SLAPS but still sounds like DISTURBED.”

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE—THE SICKNESS TURNS 25 (AND WE’RE ALL OLD)

Oh yeah babe, in case that wasn’t enough DISTURBED news for you, they’re also celebrating 25 YEARS OF THE SICKNESS. TWENTY-FIVE. BRUH. The album that gave us “Down With The Sickness” (which has now been certified eight times platinum) is getting a special anniversary release on March 7—because, clearly, they’re on a full nostalgia tour right now.

WHAT’S IN THIS LIMITED EDITION?

  • A 3-CD box set (because apparently CDs are vintage now, RIP our youth)
  • B-sides, demos, live tracks (because why not?)
  • A 14-track live concert from 2001, back when people wore JNCO jeans without irony
  • Posters, patches, a backstage pass, guitar picks—stuff you’ll forget about in a drawer but still buy anyway
  • Different vinyl variants (because collectors are a different breed)
  • Digital versions of all 40 tracks because, let’s be real, nobody owns a CD player anymore unless it’s in their 2004 Toyota Corolla.

Did you know? Disturbed once went viral for their cover of The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel, earning praise from Paul Simon himself. The Sickness is the album that put Disturbed on the map, unleashing Down with the Sickness onto an unsuspecting world in 2000. With its raw aggression and unmistakable oo-wah-ah-ah-ah battle cry, it quickly became a nu-metal anthem.

THE SICKNESS TOUR—A TIME MACHINE TO YOUR MYSPACE ERA

To make things even more chaotic, DISTURBED is hitting the road with “The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour.” WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

EVERY SHOW WILL HAVE TWO SETS:

  1. Set One: They play THE SICKNESS in FULL. Yes, including “Droppin’ Plates”—this is real life.
  2. Set Two: A greatest hits set (so you’ll get “Stricken,” “Inside The Fire,” “Land of Confusion,” and all the other tracks that make you wanna chug a Monster Energy).

WHO’S OPENING? Depends on when you go:

  • THREE DAYS GRACE (ft. OG Adam Gontier—yes, for real) + SEVENDUST
  • DAUGHTRY (lol what??) + NOTHING MORE

Surprising fact: Disturbed once had a mascot named "The Guy," who evolved from a simple smiley face into a full-fledged demon-like character seen on their album covers. What started as a rough Photoshop experiment became one of the most recognizable figures in metal. You know a band is serious when even their mascot looks like it could start a mosh pit. - 📸 Image: Reproduction / Press Release

THE FINAL TAKE: SHOULD YOU BE HYPED?

Look—if you’ve been waiting for DISTURBED to go FULL BEAST MODE again, this might be the moment. “I Will Not Break” is allegedly giving us big 2008 energy, and if that means we’re getting some “Indestructible”-style mayhem, then bet.

But will it hit like a ghost pepper to the soul or just be another “eh, this is fine” radio metal song? We’ll find out Friday.

Either way—DISTURBED is outside. The riffs are coming. And we all just aged a decade thinking about The Sickness being 25 years old.

Godspeed. Ooo-wah-ah-ah-ah.

Disturbed brought primal rage to the mainstream with Down With The Sickness, a song instantly recognizable for David Draiman’s guttural, almost animalistic intro. That infamous “ooh-wah-ah-ah-ah” was actually a studio accident—Draiman was just messing around, and the band liked it so much they kept it. And that’s how one of the most mimicked sounds in metal history was born. Imagine accidentally inventing a whole new vocal move and having metalheads imitate it for decades.
