European Tour Canceled as As I Lay Dying Faces Major Member Departures
Fan Disappointment Grows as Band Members Leave and No Statement is Made.
- As I Lay Dying’s European tour is officially cancelled, with no explanation from the band.
- Multiple band members and the tour manager have recently quit, including guitarist Ken Susi and drummer Nick Pierce.
- Tourmates Decapitated and Ov Sulfur confirmed the cancellation, citing reasons beyond their control.
It’s a mass exodus over in the As I Lay Dying camp, with members dropping off faster than you can say “farewell tour.” The band’s entire European tour is scrapped, and not a peep has come from the remaining members—whoever’s still sticking around, that is. It all kicked off with Ryan Neff, who slipped out the back door with barely a goodbye, then sparked a chain reaction.
Shortly after, the tour manager was out, and guitarist Ken Susi followed, citing “personal morals” hitting a breaking point. Next up, drummer Nick Pierce decided he’d rather preserve his health than hang around to see the wreckage.

The band, though? Not a whisper from them. In the meantime, their tourmates Decapitated and Ov Sulfur stepped in to break the news and officially confirmed that, yes, the European tour is toast.
Decapitated took to social media with a simple message: “Dear fans, due to circumstances beyond our control, this tour is cancelled. We know you bought tickets and expected a good show, so we’re working on something even better. Refunds at your point of purchase, and keep an eye out for a new tour announcement soon.”
Ov Sulfur wasn’t any more optimistic, though they hinted at the sting of unrecoupable costs: “We’re gutted to miss out on this European tour with As I Lay Dying, Decapitated, and Caliban. It would’ve been our first time there, but it’s out of our hands. If you feel like supporting us, check out our merch or stream our music.”
Meanwhile, As I Lay Dying guitarist Phil Sgrosso—who, as far as we know, is still in the band—finally chimed in, though he didn’t clear much up. In a cryptic statement, Sgrosso promised a personal update “soon” and dropped a vague hint about dealing with bureaucracy and “navigating the business side.” Whether or not that update will actually shed any light? Don’t hold your breath.
For now, the band’s legacy seems to be as tangled as its lineup. Fans are left in the lurch, with nothing but cryptic social posts, vague statements, and the kind of silence that speaks louder than words.
