Former Asking Alexandria frontman Denis Stoff has spoken out about recent criticism aimed at current vocalist Danny Worsnop, following a performance that disappointed many fans.
The band’s June 15 livestream at the Vans Warped Tour in Washington, D.C., has been at the center of online backlash. Fans called the set uninspired, accusing Worsnop of relying too much on backing tracks and putting in minimal effort.

The criticism was strong enough that bassist Sam Bettley posted a vague apology afterward.
In response to the reaction, Asking Alexandria posted a clip from the show to Instagram with the phrases “it’s never f*cking good enough” and “it’s never f*cking enough” appearing throughout the video (watch below). Worsnop has not directly responded to the criticism. His social media mostly promotes his solo country music.
Denis Stoff, who briefly replaced Worsnop in the band between 2015 and 2016, weighed in with a long post on Instagram. Stoff posted videos and wrote a statement that both mocked Worsnop’s performance and addressed his own unresolved issues with the group.
“I’ve seen the videos,” Stoff wrote, “I laughed my tits off, and I loved it.”
He said Worsnop has always used heavy backing tracks during live shows and is “clearly incapable of giving a good performance.” Stoff also dismissed Worsnop’s past claims that he lip-synched during his time in the band, calling that accusation “100% fake.”
Stoff went on to say that many fans have asked him to return to the band, but that won’t happen.
He says the band still owes him money.
In his post, Stoff claimed he never received royalties from his work on the band’s 2016 album The Black. He estimates he’s owed around $5 million, including money from songwriting, album sales, streams, concert ticket sales, and merchandise.
According to Stoff, he never got a single royalty statement. He says he has sent emails to the band and their representatives for nine years, but none of them replied.
“I was misled into believing that the business side was transparent,” he wrote, adding that he thought he’d be paid fairly and on time.
“I stayed silent,” Stoff added, “and ignored all the witty comments that were meant to cover up my departure… and help the band move forward without any public drama.”
He says he’s breaking his silence now because too much time has passed.
The band has not responded to Stoff’s claims.
