Korn's Next Album in 2024 Could Be Their First Without Fieldy
Brian Welch confirms new music, but Fieldy’s future in the band is still unknown.
- Korn is working on new music for 2024, according to Brian “Head” Welch.
- Fieldy’s involvement in the new album remains uncertain after his hiatus in 2021.
- Ra Díaz continues as Korn’s live bassist, with no clear word on his role in the upcoming record.
Korn apparently has some new sounds brewing for 2024, if guitarist Brian “Head” Welch is to be believed. He recently mentioned on The Joe Kingdom Perspective that there’s “new music coming next year,” though it seems like the band is in some kind of self-imposed exile right now, as he put it, “just doing our own thing.”
Cool, exciting news, but there’s a question hanging in the air, one fans still can’t shake: Is Fieldy back in or what?

For those who forgot—or just blocked it out—Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu stepped away from the band in 2021 for a “hiatus.” He still managed to lay down his basslines on Requiem, but since then, everything’s been as clear as mud. Are we getting Fieldy on this new record, or is this the start of an entirely Fieldy-free Korn? A first for the band, if you can believe it.
The last we heard from Fieldy was an update from October 2022. In classic vague fashion, he reassured everyone that things with his Korn buddies were cool, but they’re just “in different places” these days—no drama, no bad blood, just… distance. Korn, being Korn, has kept quiet on the subject, letting the mystery linger like stale tour bus air. And let’s face it, nobody’s really clearing up the mess.
In the meantime, Ra Díaz has been holding down the fort as their live bassist. Whether Díaz will step into the studio or just stay on the stage remains to be seen. What’s certain is, Korn’s upcoming album is either going to carry the weight of history or raise a few eyebrows—and not necessarily in a good way.
Jonathan Davis explains how his son’s voice made it into the recording.
