KORN’s Full PINKPOP 2007 Performance With SLIPKNOT’s JOEY JORDISON Released On YouTube

Korn’s 2007 Pinkpop set features a rare lineup with Slipknot’s Joey Jordison on drums. But here's something wild: during the tour, Korn’s crew and Joey’s crew had rival party buses named the “Pirate Bus” and the “Dragon Bus.” Each night they competed over who could party harder. Munky later called Joey “the most energetic drummer I’ve ever seen.”

A professionally filmed video of KORN’s full set at the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands — recorded on May 28, 2007 — has been made available online via the Pinkpop Archive YouTube channel.

The performance features late SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison, who joined KORN temporarily in 2007 after original drummer David Silveria went on hiatus.

KORN guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer has publicly spoken about his time on tour with Jordison, calling the drummer “a f. warrior” in an interview with TMZ following Jordison’s death in 2021:

“I’m in shock. I can’t believe it. That guy is such a f. warrior. He loved drums, loved music, loved playing. He would jump in and play with anybody if he felt like it was a passion. He just loved heavy music. He loved playing his instrument. It’s very sad — it’s very sad that he’s gone so young.”

Munky praised Jordison’s legacy and enthusiasm, adding:

“What an amazing f. drummer! The most energy I’ve seen any drummer have ever.”

Reflecting on their 2007 tour, Munky recalled the playful camaraderie between KORN’s crew and Jordison’s circle:

“We did a tour back in, I think, 2005. And he had his own bus with another backing singer of the band; his name is Kalen. They became really close. Their bus was called the ‘Dragon Bus’ and our bus was called the ‘Pirate Bus.’ And it was always, like, ‘Who partied harder? The pirates or the dragons?’”

He continued:

“He’ll always be remembered by me as somebody that’s caring, compassionate and an amazing musician.”

Current KORN drummer Ray Luzier, who eventually became the band’s full-time percussionist after Jordison’s fill-in run, also paid tribute. In a 2022 interview with Gigwise, Luzier reflected on Jordison’s musical spirit:

“He had some demons, like a lot of people do… But especially such a good dude like Joey. He had such good music in him.”

He added:

“That guy would wake up and pick up a guitar because he had an idea. I love those kinds of people; I’m very attracted to that energy and mentality… He was definitely a lifer. Till death, it’s in our blood.”

Jordison’s time with KORN may have been brief, but it left a deep mark — both musically and personally. In addition to playing live, he appeared in the band’s music video for “Evolution”, the lead single off their 2007 untitled album.
