Linkin Park called off their performance in Bern, Switzerland just hours before showtime, citing a medical issue within the band.

The June 20 concert at Bernexpo was part of the group’s 2025 world tour promoting From Zero, their first album since 2017. Get Linkin Park Tickets Here.

In a public statement, the band said they were “not at a spot to be able to perform tonight” and apologized to fans, promising to reschedule the show for 2026 during their next European run.

Ticket holders will receive updates from the event’s ticketing company in the coming days.

Here is the full statement:

“It is with great sadness that we have had to cancel tonight’s show. We’ve had a medical issue in the band, and are unfortunately not at a spot to be able to perform tonight.

“We have always loved Switzerland, and were so excited to perform here. We don’t take cancelations lightly and offer our sincere apologies to all of our fans affected by this decision.

“We will be rescheduling tonight’s Bern show to be a part of our 2026 European tour so that we can make this up to all of you. We hope to have the 2026 show date and details within the next few days, and fans who purchased tickets will be contacted by their ticketing company with further information and options.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

New Faces, Same Legacy

After years of speculation and false starts, Mike Shinoda and the rest of the band returned with a rebuilt lineup featuring Emily Armstrong on vocals and Colin Brittain on drums. The group’s revival has stirred curiosity and, inevitably, a few skeptics.

Mike addressed the obvious: Chester Bennington left massive shoes behind. But for him, comparisons miss the point. “Chester was a one-of-a-kind person and a one-of-a-kind voice, and Emily is also a one-of-a-kind person and a one-of-a-kind voice,” he told KROQ. “She’s not trying to be him. She’s trying to be her.

That distinction has been crucial for both the band’s identity and Emily’s survival in a pressure cooker of expectations.

How It Started

The seeds for the current version of Linkin Park were planted quietly years ago. Mike met Emily in 2019, long before the band was ready to function again. “We did a writing session just to see what she did, and I was so impressed,” he said in an interview with 98 Rock. “At the time, we weren’t ready. We’d hang out, then disappear. Nobody was in the headspace.

By 2022, the gears started turning. More writing sessions followed, and, according to Mike, something shifted: “It started. I don’t know what it was, but everybody was just ready to go.

Not a Reboot

The resulting album, From Zero, was less a reunion and more a reinvention. “You would never have a situation where a band gets made while an album gets made,” Mike said. “So it’s almost like a new band, a new start, a first album. But luckily, we’re also a new band that has 25 years of catalog people wanna see on stage.

Released in November, the record marks their first full-length studio release since One More Light in 2017. A deluxe edition followed in May, including new songs, live tracks, and expanded packaging. An a cappella version was also released in January, just before the world tour began.

Road-Tested

Despite the spotlight on Emily, Mike insists that personality and chemistry matter more than vocal range.

The talent part is the lowest bar to clear,” he said. “The more unusual or difficult things are, ‘Do we get along? Can we travel without killing each other?’ Right now, it’s the furthest thing from that. We are just really enjoying it.

He also praised the youthful energy Emily and Colin bring to the stage. “They’re a little younger than us, so they have that younger energy, and it keeps our energy high. The shows have been going great.

Guitarist Alex Feder is also currently subbing in for Brad Delson, keeping the live lineup running while Brad remains off the road.
