Megadeth's Bonnaroo 2025 Show Canceled Due to Severe Weather
Dangerous storms shut down entire festival

Summary
- Megadeth’s Bonnaroo set canceled after severe storms forced organizers to shut down the entire festival for safety concerns.
- Organizers evacuated Centeroo as heavy rain and thunderstorms turned the site into a flooded, unusable mess.
- Ticket holders will get partial or full refunds depending on their pass type, with payouts processed in “as little as 30 days”.
Whatever was left of Bonnaroo 2025 got washed straight into the Tennessee mud. What began as a promising four-day event was abruptly halted when severe storms turned Manchester into a swamp, and by Friday night, organizers pulled the plug on the entire weekend.
Megadeth, one of the anticipated acts set to play Friday, never made it to the stage. In a video posted to their social media, the band acknowledged the situation with visible disappointment but didn’t exactly kick and scream.
It was clear they understood the circumstances were out of anyone’s control, except maybe the guy upstairs holding the weather remote.

A Soggy Shutdown
The cancellation wasn’t spontaneous. Bonnaroo organizers first hit pause earlier in the day, suspending performances and ordering an evacuation of Centeroo, the central hub of the festival. By 7:40 p.m., they gave up on the whole thing.
“We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year,” the statement read, before turning emotionally soggy themselves: “We cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision.”
Well, mother Nature wins again. She doesn’t take bribes and definitely doesn’t care if you were about to see Megadeth, or if your tent was waterproof.

The Damage Report
The National Weather Service reported nearly an inch of rain flooding the area. Heavy thunderstorms continued to batter the site, rendering Centeroo practically unusable. Muddy fields, drenched equipment, and logistical chaos made continuing the festival look less like optimism and more like denial.
Artists who managed to perform Thursday, like Insane Clown Posse, Luke Combs, and Dom Dolla, might end up being the only ones who can say they “played Bonnaroo 2025.” For Megadeth, their set never left the planning stage.
Ticket Refunds Incoming
If your wallet took a hit buying tickets, there’s a light drizzle of relief. Single-day admission and parking tickets for Friday through Sunday will be fully refunded.
Four-day pass holders get a 75% refund, not perfect, but better than a wet handshake.
The festival organizers say refunds will roll out “in as little as 30 days,” which sounds suspiciously like the kind of vague promise that will turn into a Reddit thread full of “Where’s my money?” posts by week two.

No Plan B
Unlike some other festivals that might scramble to reschedule or move indoors, Bonnaroo’s infrastructure doesn’t allow much wiggle room. Once Centeroo is underwater and thousands of campers are wading through mud puddles, it’s game over.
This leaves Megadeth fans out of luck. Unless the band schedules a last-minute club show in Tennessee (don’t hold your breath), their only performance this weekend will be a 15-second Instagram story.
Rain or Rage?
There’s no real villain here, unless you count the forecast. But the end result is the same: a major set from one of metal’s most legendary bands, canceled. Megadeth doesn’t cancel shows easily.
When they do, it usually involves throat surgery or global pandemics.
This time, it was a lightning bolt and a few inches of rain that did the job.
Let’s just hope 2026 figures out how to waterproof a festival. Or maybe don’t throw one in the middle of a field during storm season. Just a thought.
