Oasis is officially back.

The British rock band returned to the stage this weekend for the first time in 16 years, kicking off their long-awaited reunion tour in front of a packed crowd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

The show marked a major moment in music, drawing fans from all over the world. Some flew in from as far as Tokyo and Shanghai. Thousands of others made the trip from the U.S. for the historic performance, and maybe even stuck around to catch Black Sabbath’s farewell show happening the next day in nearby Birmingham.

The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, shared the stage once again after years of public feuds and speculation about a possible reunion. While the two didn’t interact much during the show, they did have a few key moments that had the crowd buzzing.

One highlight came during “Wonderwall,” when their voices blended on the song’s famous chorus. At the end of the night, Liam gave Noel a quick pat on the back during the closing moments of “Champagne Supernova”, not quite a hug, but close enough to set the stadium roaring.

The band’s setlist leaned heavily on the hits. Fans sang along to “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Supersonic,” “Live Forever,” and other classics. Liam joked with the crowd during “Wonderwall,” changing the lyrics to say, “There were many things that I would like to say to you, but I don’t speak Welsh.”

In addition to Liam and Noel, the lineup featured returning members Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs. A new drummer joined the group as well. During the encore, Noel sang “The Masterplan” and dedicated it to younger fans who never had the chance to see Oasis live before now.

The show was a full-on event. Massive crowds, a giant stage setup, and booming singalongs created a stadium-sized celebration of the band’s legacy. Yellow bees lit up the screen during “Don’t Look Back in Anger”, a tribute to Manchester, where the song has become an unofficial anthem.

Liam left the venue quickly after the final song, stepping into a car before the lights even came back up.

Oasis’s reunion tour is now officially underway, and if this first show is any sign, fans can expect more big moments, emotional performances, and maybe even a few more brotherly surprises along the way.

Fans, Musicians, and Industry Weigh In

As word of Oasis’s reunion spread, social media lit up with reactions, some thrilled, some skeptical, and plenty just shocked to see it actually happen. Within minutes of the Cardiff show ending, hashtags like #OasisReunion, #GallagherBrothers, and #WonderwallLive started trending across X, Instagram, and TikTok.

Clips of the performance quickly went viral, with fans uploading shaky crowd videos of “Champagne Supernova” and “Live Forever,” each one accompanied by captions like “I waited my whole life for this” and “Noel and Liam, side by side. Unreal.” Even casual listeners chimed in, admitting they never thought they’d see the day.

Not all the responses were rose-colored. Some longtime critics and music journalists raised questions about what the reunion really means. Is this a one-time nostalgia cash grab?

Or could a new album actually be on the table? Others pointed out the cool, borderline cold body language between Liam and Noel and speculated that the peace might be temporary.

Meanwhile, fellow musicians weren’t shy with their takes. Johnny Marr simply posted a guitar emoji with the word “Respect.” Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine wrote, “That’s how you do a comeback.”

And a few anonymous rockers, apparently not over old Britpop rivalries, dropped some saltier opinions in Instagram comments that were later quietly deleted.

Ticket resale sites were another early indicator of just how big this tour could be. Prices for the next dates in London, Dublin, and Paris jumped within hours of the first show ending.

Floor seats that originally sold for £100 were suddenly showing up at five times that amount on secondary markets.

Backstage, sources close to the production (read: tour techs with Twitter accounts) mentioned the band was surprisingly professional in rehearsals, with both Gallaghers arriving separately, staying in separate dressing rooms, and rarely interacting unless absolutely necessary. One crew member reportedly joked, “They don’t speak, but at least they show up.”

Still, no one’s denying the scale of this comeback. Industry insiders say Oasis’s return could push vinyl sales, merch numbers, and streaming figures into record-breaking territory this year, especially if the band plays it right and keeps the tension simmering just below the boiling point.

As for what comes next? A full world tour is on the books, but whether this leads to new material remains uncertain. When asked by a reporter after the show if new music was coming, Liam simply said, “Never say never. But don’t hold your breath, mate.”

For now, the crowd in Cardiff got what they came for: a reunion once thought impossible.
