- Authorities believe the shooting was a random act, and Lee’s family has asked for privacy during his recovery.
Ozzy Osbourne couldn’t hide his shock upon hearing that his former guitarist, Jake E. Lee, had been shot multiple times in Las Vegas early Tuesday morning (October 15). The incident, which took place at an ungodly hour—around 2:40 a.m.—occurred while Lee was simply out walking his dog. He’s now hospitalized, fully conscious, and receiving treatment in the ICU, because where else do you end up after taking a few bullets?
According to TMZ, Eddie Trunk, a SiriusXM radio personality, offered some grisly details via social media. Apparently, Jake took three shots: one to the chest, one to the arm, and one to the foot. Trunk added that, miraculously, the bullets avoided all major organs—except for a lung. But even that won’t keep him down for long, as Jake is reportedly doing well and expected to make a full recovery. The info came straight from Lee’s manager, so it’s as official as it gets in situations like these.

When asked for a statement, Ozzy, ever the straight-shooter (no pun intended), commented:
“It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but hearing about what happened was still shocking. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence. I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be OK.”
Authorities in Las Vegas are already on the case, but their initial thoughts suggest this was a completely random attack. The investigation is ongoing, and Lee’s family has requested privacy, probably so they don’t have to explain to every curious onlooker what happened to their rock legend.
For those who’ve been living under a rock (or who conveniently forgot), Lee was chosen by Ozzy Osbourne to step in after the tragic death of Randy Rhoads. The guy played on two of Ozzy’s biggest albums: 1983’s “Bark At The Moon” and 1986’s “The Ultimate Sin”. After his time with Ozzy, Jake went on to form the hard rock outfit BADLANDS before taking a bit of a break from the music scene—because who wouldn’t need a breather after all that?
His solo albums “Retraced” and “Guitar Warrior” dropped in 2005 and 2007, respectively. Then, as if he hadn’t been through enough, Lee staged a comeback with RED DRAGON CARTEL in 2013 and followed it up with “Patina” in 2018.
No word yet on when Jake plans to strut back into the spotlight after this latest drama, but if history tells us anything, it’s that Lee won’t stay down for long. Rock legends never do.
