REVOCATION Announces New Album 'New Gods, New Masters' With Guest Appearances From Cattle Decapitation, Gorguts, And More

Revocation will release their ninth studio album, New Gods, New Masters, on September 26 via Metal Blade Records. It’s their fifth record under the label and the follow-up to 2022’s Netherheaven.
Frontman Dave Davidson once again took the reins on production, with mixing and mastering handled by Jens Bogren, known for his work with bands like Spiritbox and The Haunted.

The current lineup includes guitarist Harry Lannon and bassist Alex Weber, both of whom Davidson credits with pushing the band’s intensity in the studio and on stage.
First Single “Cronenberged”
The lead single “Cronenberged” features guest vocals by Jonny Davy (Job For A Cowboy) and draws inspiration from sci-fi horror and body horror aesthetics.
Davidson name-checks David Cronenberg and Rick and Morty as references, and the video takes that literally: think slimy practical effects, tentacles, gore, and yes, Davidson mutating into a monster.
The video is already out, and it’s pure visual chaos in the best way. 👇
Guest Appearances and Track Info
The album features:
- Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation)
- Luc Lemay (Gorguts)
- Gilad Hekselman, a jazz guitarist (!)
In total, the album includes 9 tracks with a deliberate mix of brutal death metal, progressive elements, and a few surprises. Davidson calls it their “most dynamic and diverse album to date.”
What’s With the Title?
According to Davidson, New Gods, New Masters is a not-so-subtle jab at society’s blind worship of technology and artificial intelligence.
He says the album explores the idea that we’ve replaced ancient gods with new digital ones, and not necessarily for the better. His words:
“We’re racing toward oblivion with a smile on our face.”
So yeah, no shortage of cynicism here.
