Summary
  • Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators have finished recording their fifth album, but it won’t come out until 2027.
  • Myles Kennedy still needs to track vocals, with riffs and instrumentals already recorded in L.A. and Florida.
  • A full world tour will follow the release, continuing the band’s mix of blues-driven hard rock.

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators have wrapped recording on their fifth album. The catch? You won’t hear it until 2027.

On August 28, Slash posted a photo with bassist Todd Kerns and drummer Brent Fitz on Instagram, announcing the sessions were complete.

“Recording for #SMKC record number 5 is done today,” he wrote. “Album title [to be confirmed]. This has been a super cool session all around. & we all agree it’s one of, if not the best one yet. Unfortunately you’ll have to wait till 2027… But it will be worth the wait. Full blown world tour to follow!”

So yes the music is in the bag, but the band’s calendar is too packed to put it out sooner.

Studio Shuffle

Brent Fitz has been doing the press rounds, explaining how the process came together. In an interview with Different Stages Radio, he revealed they split time between Slash’s Los Angeles studio and producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette’s setup in Florida.

Fitz praised Slash’s relentless schedule. “Slash has the greatest work ethic of any musician I’ve ever worked with,” he said.

The timeline was hectic, a 2024 tour, a solo blues album from Slash, then straight into recording. Most of the bed tracks are already nailed down. What’s left is Myles Kennedy adding his vocals once his solo tours wind down.

Fitz also admitted the band keeps things light in the studio with goofy working titles. Past songs once carried names like Elephant Disorder before becoming proper setlist staples.

Kennedy’s Role

Myles Kennedy told Heavy Consequence back in January that the lyrics and melodies are already written.

He just needs studio time to record them. Stylistically, he promised “riff-based rock ’n’ roll with a heavy dose of the blues element that Slash brings.”

Kennedy also explained how his role has evolved since Apocalyptic Love. These days he focuses on lyrics and vocal melodies, while occasionally suggesting chord changes to match a vocal line.

He credited Slash with being unusually flexible for a guitar icon: “He knows how to sequence the chords where it’s gonna really leave room for a melody, which I appreciate.”

Busy Schedule

The band originally entered the studio in November 2024. In between, they’ve kept their live chops sharp.

Their River Is Rising – Rest Of The World Tour ’24 launched in January, highlighted by a surprise performance of the deep Guns N’ Roses cut Don’t Damn Me with Todd Kerns on vocals.

Support slots went to Mammoth WVH on select dates.

Before that, SMKC last toured in early 2022, right after dropping their most recent studio album 4 through Gibson Records and BMG.

That record marked a different approach: recorded live in Nashville at RCA Studio A with producer Dave Cobb. It also spun off a limited double live album, Live At Studios 60, released for Record Store Day 2022.

Meanwhile, Slash

Slash hasn’t exactly been twiddling his thumbs while Kennedy finishes vocals. In May 2024 he dropped a blues album called Orgy Of The Damned.

Then came the S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival, where he played across the U.S. with his blues band and a rotating cast that included Tash Neal, Johnny Griparic, Teddy “ZigZag” Andreadis, and Michael Jerome.

And of course, there’s that other job he has: touring the world with Guns N’ Roses.

The Wait

The bad news? Fans have to sit tight until 2027 for new music. The good news? By then, the band promises a world tour built around the new material.

If history is any guide, expect the setlists to mix fresh songs with older cuts like World on Fire and Anastasia.

SMKC albums tend to land with a blend of classic rock grit, blues swagger, and Kennedy’s clean vocal hooks.

If Slash is as confident as he sounds, this fifth record could be the one they keep pointing back to years from now.
