The Gist

Back in 2024, Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot confidently announced that the long-teased *Look Outside Your Window* would finally see the light of day this year. Fast forward to November, and here we are: still no album. No surprises there, though. That’s been the band’s standard operating procedure for this elusive project—lots of promises, no delivery. The closest fans get is the occasional assurance that “it’s still a thing.” Comforting, right?

In a recent chat with Vulture, Clown dropped yet another update, which, as expected, is less of a release plan and more of a shrug. According to him, the music’s done, the artwork’s locked in, and the studio tinkering is complete. Yet somehow, the album remains in limbo. Classic.

“Oh my God,” he began—because of course. “I don’t even know where to start. There’s audio, and there’s video too. Tons of half-baked concepts, some nearly finished. There’s so much Slipknot content I wish the culture could see. I’ve created so much in my career, but barely any of it gets released.”

For anyone keeping track, this particular project goes all the way back to 2008. Yes, 2008. Clown clarified that it was a collaboration with Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and Sid Wilson, birthed during the sessions for All Hope Is Gone. The recording happened in Perry, Iowa, just up the hill from their main studio. And let’s not ignore his side-eye at skeptics: “No one believes it even exists or that it’ll ever come out. I’ve always hyped it up, and I stand by it. You’ll never hear Corey Taylor sing like this on any other recording. It’s a completely different vibe.”

He added that he recently approved all the artwork and worked tirelessly to get the tracks mixed and mastered. So everything’s theoretically good to go. But as Slipknot fans know, the finish line for this album has a habit of moving.

For now, it’s a waiting game. Maybe the album will drop next year, maybe not. If nothing else, fans can find solace in the fact that at least Clown is consistent—just not in the way anyone hoped.
