Summary
  • Tom Morello recalls his last meeting with Ozzy Osbourne during Sabbath’s farewell concert afterparty.
  • He was interrupted mid-pinball game by Jack Osbourne, who said Ozzy wanted to see him.
  • Ozzy’s final words to Morello: ‘Could you find Sharon? I want to get the f@#$ out of here.’

Ozzy Osbourne had a knack for turning even the smallest comments into something unforgettable.

Ask almost anyone who crossed paths with him, and they’ll tell you the same thing: the man could make saying he was tired sound like a headline.

That’s why stories about the last words people heard from him tend to stick.

Tom Morello, who served as musical director for Black Sabbath’s farewell show, recently shared his own memory of saying goodbye to Ozzy.

He spoke about it during an interview with Rocklahoma Live.

Pinball Interrupted

The night of the final concert had already been heavy.

“The day is done, it’s been great, and people have been working on the show for a very long time and we’re all hugging and crying,” Morello recalled.

By the time the afterparty rolled around, things had calmed down. He was at a pinball machine with his son, just trying to unwind.

That’s when someone tapped him on the shoulder mid-game.

“I’m in the middle of a multi-ball and I’m like, ‘Get off me,’” Morello said. “And it’s Jack Osbourne because his dad wants to say hi.”

Ozzy at the Party

Morello said he was caught off guard. Not just by Jack, but by the fact that Ozzy had even shown up at the afterparty.

“First of all, Ozzy comes to the afterparty, which is crazy, right?” he said.

He finished his game and went over to greet the frontman.

“I got to, one last time, kiss his head, tell him I love him, thank him for a lifetime of music,” Morello explained.

That’s when Ozzy delivered a classic bit of timing only he could pull off. His response?

“Could you find Sharon? I want to get the f@#$ out of here.”

Perfect Ending

For Morello, it was the most fitting sendoff he could have imagined.

“That’s the perfect coda to the day,” he said, laughing at the memory.

It was blunt, it was funny, and it was pure Ozzy.

The Man Known for One-Liners

Ozzy Osbourne built a reputation on more than his music. He had a way of delivering lines that were blunt, funny, and often unforgettable.

It doesn’t matter if it was during a live interview, onstage, or on The Osbournes, he could take the air out of a heavy moment with one sentence.

Sometimes his words came out mumbled, sometimes sharp, but people always remembered them.

For musicians like Tom Morello, those quips became part of what defined Ozzy as much as songs like Paranoid or Crazy Train.

That’s what made his farewell remark to Morello so fitting. He accepted the praise, then cut it short with a joke about leaving the party.

It was Ozzy being himself, unfiltered and unwilling to linger.
