Fan-shot videos from the night are already making the rounds online (watch below).

The Düsseldorf show followed a major kickoff on June 26 in Prague, Czech Republic, at Letiště Praha Letňany. Reports say about 60,000 people attended, including Czech president Petr Pavel, who is known for showing up at rock concerts. He also caught Bruce Springsteen and Alanis Morissette earlier this year.

The “Power Up” tour takes its name from the band’s 2020 album. That release debuted at No. 1 in Australia and more than 20 other countries. It also landed at the top of the Billboard 200, marking the band’s third album to do so. Power Up was one of the top-selling albums of 2020 and earned multiple Grammy nominations, including Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance, and Best Music Video for Shot In The Dark.

Ticket sales for the 2024 launch of the tour were massive. The band sold 1.7 million tickets in just a few days, eventually crossing the 2 million mark across 24 shows. After wrapping up 10 sold-out concerts in North America, AC/DC is continuing across Europe with 15 more stops before heading back to Australia.

The band first played live in 1973 at Chequers Nightclub in Sydney. Since then, AC/DC has sold over 200 million albums globally. Back In Black remains the top-selling album by any band and ranks third overall among all artists, with more than 50 million copies sold worldwide.

AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. They continue to play sold-out stadiums and attract billions of streams across platforms.

This tour is the first to feature a new lineup. The core includes longtime frontman Brian Johnson, founding guitarist Angus Young, and Stevie Young on rhythm guitar, who joined officially in 2014. Matt Laug stepped in as drummer in 2023, replacing Phil Rudd. Chris Chaney, formerly of JANE’S ADDICTION, took over bass duties in 2024 after Cliff Williams retired.

Power Up was recorded in 2018 at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver. It was produced by Brendan O’Brien, who also worked on the band’s earlier albums Black Ice and Rock Or Bust.

This tour also marks Brian Johnson’s return after leaving mid-tour in 2016 due to a serious hearing issue. During that run, Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses filled in for live shows.

The current leg of the Power Up tour continues through summer 2025, with more stadium shows still to come.
