Watch: Korn Meets Vanessa Carlton in a Bizarre Mashup
YouTuber mac glocky blends Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” with Korn’s heavy nu-metal sound.
- Korn’s nu-metal style mashed up with Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” surprisingly works.
- mac glocky delivers an unexpectedly catchy take, complete with Jonathan Davis’ signature scat vocals.
- He’s no stranger to weird mashups, having already done Britney Spears, Weezer, and Blink-182 covers in the Korn style.
Just when you thought the world had run out of odd musical combinations, along comes YouTuber mac glocky with a new creation. Fresh off his last “masterpiece”—a mashup of System of a Down and the B-52s—he’s back with another experiment: what happens when you blend Vanessa Carlton’s early 2000s pop hit “A Thousand Miles” with the nu-metal force of Korn?
Turns out, it’s not as disastrous as you might think. Sure, nobody was really asking for this. Scientists certainly didn’t waste time trying to figure out what this would sound like—probably because they were busy with more important things. But mac glocky? He’s got nothing but time, apparently, and here we are.

The result is oddly… catchy. The seven-string guitars—you know, the ones tuned so low they might as well be underwater—give Carlton’s delicate piano melody a strange new life. Then there’s mac glocky’s take on Jonathan Davis’ signature vocal style, which surprisingly fits the mashup. He even throws in one of those scat parts that somehow doesn’t sound out of place. If I had to pin it somewhere in Korn’s discography, I’d say it feels like their newer stuff. No way this would fit on anything from the early days, that’s for sure.
This isn’t even mac glocky’s first dive into the weird world of Korn mashups. The guy’s also cranked out versions of Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again,” Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So,” and even Blink-182’s “All The Small Things.” He’s committed to this niche of imagining what would happen if the nu-metal titans covered songs they’d probably never even heard of. There’s even a reverse take, where Panic! At The Disco gives us their version of “Freak on a Leash.” Haven’t had the pleasure of watching that yet, but I can already guess… it’s probably something.
So yeah dude, if you’re looking for something bizarrely unique today, check out the clip below. It’ll be one of the more unexpected things you’ll come across.
